Objections

Q: Why should I buy a native ad when a normal banner ad is less expensive?

A: Native ads have higher clickthrough rates than banner ads (ranging from 0.1% to 0.3% or higher depending on the content). Native ads also provide a sleek in-stream design, which avoids user fatigue by placing sponsored content in the river of news. In addition—users are less likely to gloss over a native ad compared to a typical banner placement.

Additional Information

Banner Ad Inventory Policy: 10K impressions allowed per month per advertiser. If you'd like to book more than 3 months in advance, please submit your request to the universal request form. We are manually watching inventory to ensure fulfillment.

         

Category Roadblock (PW/PFW) Process for Reps:

  1. Reach out to your CSM and make sure there are enough impressions available to fulfill the category the advertiser is requesting.
  2. If the CSM approves, add the needed line(s) to the plan using the appropriate category.
    - If they are just doing the single month, you only need to add the month they are selecting.
    - If they are looking to do a 3 month package, you will enter 3 separate lines and request a price adjustment from MaryAnn.
  3. If you are selling the 3 month package, they must be 3 consecutive months.  If there are not 3 consecutive months available, you can not sell the 3 month package for that category.
  4. We need a minimum of 2 weeks to get these campaigns set up and running as intended.  We can not sell anything last minute.
  5. The client will need to provide a combination of 8-10 IMU and Leaderboard ads (300x250 and 970x90) in addition to the Native Ads for the Category page.

FAQs

CATEGORY ROADBLOCK

Q: How does premium pricing work for 3-month package campaigns?
A: 3-month package campaigns with any month running during the premium pricing time period (which in 2026 is September/October) will be bumped up to the 3-month premium pricing package. Please note, this is a 7% increase versus a 24% increase for 1-month campaigns during this time period.

Q: What if I don't have a piece of high value content to promote in the 2 native ad positions on the category page?
A: While it's encourage you take advantage of the native ad positions to drive traffic back to your site with a piece of high value content, we can also run IMU (300x250) banner ads in the native ad slots if you don't have content for the native ad positions.

Q: For a three month campaign, can any months be selected?
A: They must be 3 consecutive months.  If there are not 3 consecutive months available, we can not sell the 3 month package for that category.

Q: Why are 8-10 banner ads required? Can an advertiser use the same creative and have those run throughout?
A: The reason we ask for 8-10 banner ad creatives is because their ad could appear 8-10 times on the same page. In addition, our ad-serving service does not allow a single ad creative to be served more than once per page for user experience purposes (so it’s not the same, single ad creative the entire page). This means that the service would show different ads than the advertiser’s and would be negating the Category Roadblock product (whose point is to own certain topics and be the only advertiser on screen).

Q. Can we create materials for the advertiser?

BANNER ADS

Q: I looked on the brand website I selected and could not see my banner ad. Why?
A: Depending on which point in time you are looking for your ad, it could be that the ad server is showing other campaigns or ads.  Rest assured your campaign is being managed around the clock by a sophisticated, specialized piece of software whose job it is to make sure you get every single impression you are paying for! On top of that, we have in-house ad server experts, who have been trained to monitor your campaign to make sure everything is functioning properly.

   

NATIVE ADS

Q: How are native ads sold?
A: Sold on a share-of-voice basis, first-come, first-serve; with limited monthly inventory

Q: What reporting is an advertiser provided?
A: Advertisers receive a unique link that shares impressions, unique users, clicks, CTR, and an interactive graph to see impressions over the course of the campaign.

Fulfillment Process

Category Roadblock: Naviga Process Note—DAY OF WEEK MATTERS FOR ENTERING DATES IN NAVIGA. For premium months, use Monday or Friday. For non-premium months, use any week day except for Monday or Friday.

         
Native Ads:

  • CSM collects creative materials from the advertiser via email and uploads them to RateLine in Naviga.
  • CSC creates the order and line items in Mindful.
  • CSC adds the following links to the rateline in Naviga, tagging the appropriate CSM:
    • Link to Ad's Material Builder in Mindful
    • Link to Ad's Metrics Reporting in Mindful
  • Once advertiser approval of the completed materials is obtained by the CSM, the CSC activates the campaign.
